Story of Shirdi Sai
Shirdi Sai film kick starts by a young boy in 1854 meditating under a neem tree in Shiridi. The young boy shows his holy nature to the area people then leaves to Himalayas for gaining enlightenment along with wisdom on religions. After returning to Shiridi, he solves the problems of the people with his miracles and turns as Sai baba in that town. He heals dangerous diseases and saves people from hungry.
With his miracles Sai Baba makes Bhatia, the Englishman Wales and few other people as his devotees,who earlier doubted him.The story ends finally when Sai Baba enters to Samadhi with his life and leaves this earth.
As the title suggests Shirdi Sai is a complete life history showcase of Lord Shirdi Sai Baba..
Performances
Nagarjuna, has excelled magnificently by getting in to the skin of Sai baba's role. He proved once again that his body language can suit to devotional films of this kind. His way of living the character in the climax 20 minutes will make you remember this movie so long.We can say that current generation actors cannot suit this role as Nag did it.
Srikanth,Sai Kumar given their utmost best to the roles,Sarath Babu, Sreehari, Sayaji Shinde, Kaushik, Kamalini Mukherjee, Rohini Hattangadi, Tanikella Bharani, Brahmanandam, Ali were good in their characters. It is to mention the comedy in the film is poor but Brahmi rocks in his way of expressions.
Technicalities of Shirdi Sai film
It is special to mention that Shirdi Sai film has beautiful songs with best suited background score. Keeravani is heart of the film and the songs especially like ‘Okkade Devudu, Saranu Saranu etc., were emotionally touching and flowed the tears in audiences eyes .Keeravani’s re-recording turned to be major plus.
Raghavendra once again proved that he is sound in making sucha devotional films with effective Screenplay on board. S. Gopal Reddy Cinematography is a visual treat and dialogues by Paruchuri Brothers are penned very well as per the situations. Production values by Sai Krupa Entertainments were grand.
Analysis
Nagarjuna showed his uniqueness by not following others who proved themselves in earlier Sai Baba's film. As said earlier, Nagarjuna is the only actor in currently generation who can carry on such a role convincingly. Raghavendra Rao showcased the philosophies of Sai baba in a spiritual way which made audience to connect to the scenes in the first half.
Comedy scenes between Ali and other actors which looked very silly is to be avoided by the director and might have tried to showcase much on Sai Baba and his devotees. Sri Hari hanging portrait of Queen Elizabeth is out of logic and could be taken care as it is pre-independence era. After the interval Second half seems to be slow paced but picks in last 20 minutes which has loads of emotional scenes which leaves audiences in tears.
My Take
Nagarjuna excelled as Lord Sai Baba connecting well to audiences and sticked such a bio-pic in TFI. Nagarjuna is the main highlight in the film and receives a big applause for such a try in present day. Let’s dedicate this weekend watching devotional film Shirdi Sai with the whole family.
